The Slumberpod

Child in a Slumberpod

Here is a happy toddler in a Slumberpod. That was not my child and if yours hates it too, just know that’s okay.

I’ll admit it…The SlumberPod is a pretty interesting product. It's basically a portable, blackout sleep nook that allows babies and toddlers to sleep in their familiar playard, mini crib, or travel crib, even in bright or distracting environments. It essentially becomes a dark sleep cave for little ones.

Here's a quick rundown of features, pros, cons, and food for thought.

SlumberPod Features:

  • Blocks out light and noise: The dark, breathable fabric creates a cozy and calming sleep environment, regardless of the surroundings.

  • Portable and easy to set up: It folds up easily and can be taken anywhere, making it ideal for travel or home use.

  • Spacious enough for sitting or standing: There's room for your little one to move around comfortably inside.

  • Safe and breathable: The fabric is lightweight and allows for proper air circulation.

  • Optional fan for airflow: You can add a fan for extra comfort in warmer weather.

SlumberPod Benefits:

  • Improved sleep for babies and toddlers: The SlumberPod can help your child sleep longer and more soundly, even in unfamiliar or noisy environments. If they’re really little, start traveling with it now versus later.

  • Easier travel with little ones: No need to worry about finding a dark, quiet place for your child to sleep when you're on the go. No scoping out the bathroom or closet for ventilation. You really can just plop this thing in the hotel room, place a sound machine nearby to drown out the noise, and watch TV while your little one snoozes in this Arctic Tundra.

  • Peace of mind for parents: You can relax knowing your child is in a safe, dark, and comfortable sleep space.

SlumberPodCons:

  • Price: The SlumberPod is a bit on the pricier side, so it might not be for everyone.

  • Size: It's designed for babies and toddlers up to around 4 years old, so it might not be suitable for older children. It also takes up a little more space than your good old-fashioned Pack N’ Play.

  • Availability: The SlumberPod can sometimes be out of stock, so it's important to check the website before you order.

  • Baby Temperament: Not every baby likes it…especially older babies who are used to an open pack-n’-play or travel crib for travel. Mine HATED it BUT I didn’t travel with it until too late. They needed adjustment time and I prefer using these Portable Suction Cup Blackout Curtains instead. My babies acted like I was putting them in a terrifying black hole. But that’s just me. A lot of people and clients LOVE their SlumberPod.

Overall, the SlumberPod seems like a great option for parents who are looking for a way to help their little ones sleep better, especially when traveling or dealing with challenging sleep environments.
